March 27 - April 4, 2010
We began the journey through Holy Week with our youth gathering to fold palms on Lazarus Saturday. At the same time our Ladies Philoptochos held a retreat where they invited some of our college students to share their experiences on the various mission trips they attended.
On Palm Sunday, we celebrated the 40th anniversary since the first Liturgy was held in our church, Palm Sunday 1970. Joining us for this occassion was Father William Bartz, who also served as our assistant priest. Following the Liturgy, a beautiful luncheon was held to celebrate this milestone in our church. Over 300 people were in attendance. Our founding members and founding charter members were honored. The first Parish Council President, Hon. Judge James S. Gallas spoke on the events that led us to where we are today.
During the Nymphios service, a few of our GOYAns came and read the psalms during the service. On Holy Friday the ladies (and a few men) gathered to decorate the epitaphion. A retreat was held for all students K-12 where they learned of the 'Sacred Symbols that Speak' in the Orthodox Church. Some of our young ladies even participated as Myrofores.
The week came to an end with the beautiful Reserrection Service. Our GOYAns held an egg hunt for all children in our parish under 10 years old.
